Acrylic sheets are easy to use and shape
Acrylic sheets, such as Plexiglas®, are easy to work with since the have a low melting point. This means they can be cut and shaped in several different ways. Once they have cooled, you can also drill and saw in them without cracking. Most acrylic sheets in Biltema’s range are also weatherproof and UV-protected. This means you don’t have to worry about the sheets yellowing.
Acrylic sheets and their uses
- Acrylic plastic – consists of extruded poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) and can be used both indoors and outdoors for greenhouses, fridges, windows, and display cases.
- SAN plastic – made of extruded styrene-acrylonitrile (SAN) and ideal for use in bathrooms, greenhouses, cooling devices, and more.
- Plexiglas® – made of extruded poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) and essentially the same as acrylic plastic. The only difference is that Plexiglas is a trade name for acrylic plastic. It is durable, UV-resistant, and has high chemical resistance, making it perfect for use in bathrooms, greenhouses, fridges, windows, display cases, and shelves, among others.
- Polycarbonate sheets – extremely impact resistant, lightweight, and allow as much light through as glass. Perfect for use in boats, garages, greenhouses, windows, and more.
