Hardware for fences, cabins, etc.
Building hardware can be used for both big and small projects. The type of fixing and fittings you should buy depends on what you intend to build. You may need hardware for simple jobs, like hanging up or anchoring something. But there are also jobs that require more substantial building hardware that can handle larger weights.
Three types of structures that you can build with the help of fixings and fittings are fences, garden sheds, and cabins. But ultimately, you are only limited by your imagination when it comes what you can build!
Some examples of building hardware we stock:
- Post shoes (used for casting garden sheds, cabins, etc.)
- Sliding bolts (you can use these as locks on toilet doors, for example)
- Post brackets
- Perforated metal ties and mounting tape
How ordinary fittings are used
There is a multitude of different building hardware to choose from. These are some of the most common uses of ordinary fittings:
- Angle brackets: used to connect structures at an angle. For example, wood to wood or even wood to concrete.
Holed plates: Can be used to join beams or roof trusses, for example.
- Joist hangers: used to mount joists or roof trusses. Like angle brackets, these can be attached either wood to wood or wood to brick/concrete.
- Post shoes: used to attach and support wooden posts to fences or pergolas, for example. Post shoes can also be cast for extra stability. Alternatively, they can simply be hammered into the ground.
