Function of the boat canopy
Boat canopies and sprayhoods provide essential protection on a boat. They improve comfort on board and ensure that boating is more enjoyable, even in challenging weather conditions.
A sprayhood is a fixed dome-like structure above the cockpit of a boat. It protects the crew from wind, rain, and splashing water, creating a more comfortable environment during boat trips. A boat canopy, which is often removable, usually covers the rest of the cockpit and can provide additional protection from the elements.
Canopy cleaner and impregnation
On this page you will find canopy cleaner and impregnation for boat canopies. Our canopy cleaner is a concentrated cleaning product for washing heavier textiles such as boat canopies. Read here how to use the two products together in a few easy steps:
Cleaning a boat canopy with canopy cleaner
Mix one part concentrate/canopy cleaner with water according to the package instructions. If heavily soiled, increase the dosage to water ratio. Apply mixture with a sponge or low-pressure sprayer. Allow the product to work according to the package instructions, but do not let it dry - scrub gently with a sponge or soft brush. Rinse thoroughly with clean water afterwards.
Instructions for boat canopy impregnation:
- The surface to be impregnated must be clean and dry.
- If necessary, clean the surface with Biltema’s canopy cleaner.
- Rinse thoroughly with fresh water so that no residue of the canopy cleaner remains in the fabric. Residues of canopy cleaner reduce the impregnation effect.
- Let the fabric dry.
- Spread the canopy out on a flat surface.
- Shake the packaging/bottle.
- Apply the product liberally with the hand pump. If necessary, spread the product with a brush or sponge.
- Make sure the fabric is properly soaked so that the impregnation penetrates well into the fibres.
- Impregnation should preferably be done at room temperature or warmer.
- Let the fabric dry for at least 24 hours.
